Everyone loves camp. Everyone enjoys the chance to unwind, the opportunities to connect, to build new friendships, and to strengthen friendships already made. And, perhaps the most important of all, camp presents the atmosphere to get to know yourself, to try new things, experiment with your talents, and learn what it is that you enjoy most. After a full summer of excitement the time always comes for the magic to end. Why does it have to be? Why must the aura of camp dissipate? At Camp Kulam Ahuvim, we were intrigued by this thought. Yet, we believe we've finally found the solution.
All will agree that camp cannot continue the entire year, camp is an otherworldly experience set apart from real life, and every camper must return to solid ground. Back to the Gemara, with homework and tests, back to everything life has to offer, all the essentials of becoming the talmidei chachamim and responsible people we all hope to be. That is how the Year Round Round-up was born. To balance the requirements of Yeshiva, but at the same time resuscitate a bit of the camp spirit so it may survive throughout the year. So that when we rejoin b'ezras Hashem next summer we will be building on the past.
